CHICKEN CURRY IN 15 MINUTES
This recipe includes many spices which really add flavour to the curry.
Igredients
1) Skinless chicken - 1 n a half pounds
2)Vegetable oil - 5 table spoon
3)Onion - 1 chopped into small pieces
4)Green Chilli - 2 chopped
5)Ginger garlic paste-2 tea spoon
6)Tomato -2 sliced
7)Chilli powder -quarter tea spoon
8)Cinnamon -3-4 sticks or half teaspoon if powder
9)Pepper - Quarter teaspoon or 5-6 if pepper seeds
10)Bay leaves - 3-4
11)Coriander powder- 1 tea spoon
12)Salt - 2 teaspoon or depending on taste
13)Garam Masala - 2 tea spoon [optional,but preferred]
I add a variety of other spices too, but since i assume that you like it less spicy and hot, this would be enough.
Marinate Chicken
Clean and chop the chicken well and add 3-4 tablesppon curd to it.To ths then add quarter tea spoon salt, turmeric powder [optional],half lemon and keep it aside for half an hour.
Cooking
Keep the vessel in the stove and pour the oil to it.
Optional
Mustard spluttered in the oil adds is typical ingredient in almost all Indian dishes. But its better not to try if you are completely unaware of how to do it as it as the hot spluttering mustard can hurt u.Anyway its not very harmful and even without this, the dish would be delicious enough.
[When the oil is hot add quarter teaspoon mustard seed and red dry chilli to it and close it with a lid or spatter screen as the mustard splutters in the oil. After the mustard stops spluttering, remove the lid]
1) Add all the spices and ginger garlic paste [5,8,9,10] into the hot oil and stir for 10 seconds.
2)Now add the chopped onion and green chilli to it and continue stirring occassionaly for another 2 minutes or till onion turns golden brown.Make sure to add enough oil to avoid onion getting dry.
3)Add the tomatoes, stir again and keep it closed for a minute.
4)Add the chilli powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder [replace coriander powder with garam masala if u have it] and salt to this, stir well.
5)Add the chiken to this mixture.Stir well and make sure that all the mix has spread well on the chicken.
6)Keep the lid closed and let the chicken cook with occassional stirring.Do not pour water as chicken with bones usually has water in itslef and it comes out while cooking. Add water only if you dont find gravy in the vessel even after 2 minutes.
7)Make sure u stir occasionally to avoid chicken getting stuck to the vessels. Cook for another 6-7 minutes or until chicken is cooked to your desired level.Garnish with cilantro leaves and have with bread or rice.
This gives u a very delicious chicken curry that can be prepared in just 15 minutes.Increase or reduce the amount of chilli and salt as desired.Go ahead and try it.I bet you would love it.
[Ingredients 8,9,10 and 11 can be replaced with by Garam Masala that is available in any Indian store and really adds to the flavour of the dish.Garam masala is a ground form of all many spices together.]I would highly suggest you to use Garam Masala for this dish.
Try the same recipe with beef, mutton or lamp instead of chicken.
